How to Make a Gift Box at Home

08/10/2017

You need gift boxes every now and then. Tell me a single month which does not have a birthday of someone from friends or family. Let me tell you, if there is that odd month without a birthday, it will be the birth month of your angry boss or freaky girlfriend.

So there is no getting away from gifts: hence no relief from the periodical need for a good and attractive gift box. Now, this might be upsetting for many people, but tell you what, you can still minimize the amount you spend on gift boxes and make your own custom gift boxes at home.

Wait before you judge this. I am not talking about bore, bland and half-heartedly made gift boxes, but attractive and expensive-looking custom gift boxes made at home. Let us see how to go about them.

1. Get the material

Alright, so when you decide to make a gift box at home, the first thing that you need to do is to get the material. As soon as you draw a sketch of your project from well-reputed software development company, you can enlist the items that you need. In our project, we are using cardboard, tape, scissors, ribbons, motifs, glue, wrapping paper and a scale.

2. Make the basic structure

Depending on the size of your gift, you need to get material for your customized gift box. You can get the cardboard boxes of any size or get the cardboard sheets and make the box with help of tape and scissors. Make sure that by the end of this procedure, you have a box ready in a raw shape.

3. Decoration

Once the box is ready, you can move forward towards finalizing the decoration of your home-made gift box. Make sure that you tape the four flaps of the box on the inside and not on the outside.

4. Applying Wrapping Paper

Get the wrapping paper as per the need of your personalized gift box project. When I say 'personalized' it means that you should get the wrapping paper, box and decorative material appropriate to the gift and the person receiving it.

So, for your boss, do not buy a red wrapping paper with hearts made on it. Instead get some light colored and decent looking wrapping paper. Cut it into the same lengths and widths as your gift box, and now tape it carefully on the box.

Once all six sides (including top and bottom) are done, you should have the cardboard box covered in the wrapping paper, without a single crease on all six sides.

5. Finishing

Now, you see in front of you a box wrapped in a beautiful wrapping paper, with one open end to put a gift inside it. It is the time to do some art thingy with it. Make a bow of the ribbon. Get that bow in your hand and place one end of scissor on the two diverging ends, now press scissor with some pressure and pull it along the length of the ribbon. This should give a flower-like look to the ribbon. Tape the ribbon on the top of your box and use glue to paste the motifs around it.

Your job is done and you have now a very beautiful and artistically done customized gift box. Cheers!
